Starting with no knowledge of web development, today we have almost complete knowledge of HTML and we are going strong in CSS. The Coding Express already has 55 followers on Twitter.Let's hope this journey never ends...

Let's begin...
In the last article, we learned about overflow property in CSS and also code one example involving various values for overflow property. In today's article, we are going to learn about float property which is used extensively in CSS layouts.
The float property
The float CSS property specifies that an element should be placed along the left or right side of its container, where text and inline elements will wrap around it. The float property can have following values:
- none - This is a default. The element will not float and will be displayed in a normal fashion.
- left - The element floats to the left of the container.
- right - The element floats to the right of the container.
- inherit - The element inherits the value of a property from its parent element.
Let's see an example...
The clear property
As we have studied float property, it is must to study clear property.
The clear CSS property specifies whether an element can be next to floating elements that precede it or must be moved down (cleared) below them. It is important to know that the clear property applies to both floating and non-floating elements. The clear property can have the following values:
- none - This is the default. Allows floating on both sides.
- left - No floating allowed on the left side.
- right - No floating allowed on the right side.
- both - No floating allowed on both the sides
- inherit - Inherits value from its parent
Mostly we have to use clear property after use of float property on an element. You will understand use better by example...
That's all for today. In the next article, we will learn more about float and clear with examples.
Till then #keepCoding.
